Who's WHO?

World Health Organization, that's who's WHO.

WHO’s Constitution came into force on 7 April 1948 – a date we now celebrate every year as World Health Day. WHO now employs more than 7000 people from more than 150 countries working in 150 country offices, in 6 regional offices and at their headquarters in Geneva.

Why is WHO important to Perth Maternity?

The WHO Antenatal Guidelines are the guidelines that are followed globally and inform our national health care services (NHMRC) on international evidence-based maternity care. Click below for more information.

Here are the 2018 WHO Antenatal Guidelines;

WHO recommendations on antenatal care for a positive pregnancy experience

"Evidence showed that women from high-, medium- and low-resource settings valued having a positive pregnancy experience. Within a health systems context, this included the adoption of flexible appointment systems and continuity of provider care where women were given privacy and time to build authentic and supportive relationships with maternity-care providers (high confidence in the evidence)."
