Appointment 1: TeleHealth Information Session Overview

  • This TeleHealth session serves as an introductory guide to pregnancy planning for ‘the not- yet pregnant’ or ‘newly pregnant’ woman/couple. It covers essential topics such as pre-conception care, lifestyle choices, nutrition, fertility awareness, and genetic counselling options. Through discussions and guidance, women gain valuable insights into optimising their health for conception and decision-making for a healthy pregnancy. The session aims to empower individuals with knowledge and tools to embark on their pregnancy journey with confidence. It concludes with scheduling a follow-up in-clinic appointment to delve deeper into personalised planning and address any specific needs or concerns.

Appointment 2: In-Clinic Pregnancy Planning Overview

  • In this in-clinic appointment, women and their partners engage in a detailed discussion tailored to their pregnancy planning/early pregnancy needs. Building upon the TeleHealth session, the in-person meeting delves into lifestyle choices, ovulation tracking, genetic counselling, and medical/pregnancy screenings options/recommendations. It offers a personalised approach to fertility optimisation/early pregnancy challenges specific to the individual woman’s needs. The appointment aims to finalise a personalised pregnancy plan, outlining timelines, goals, and necessary steps for conception/pregnancy screening tests. Couples leave equipped with comprehensive information, support, and resources for their upcoming/ongoing pregnancy journey.

Antenatal Appointments

  • Pregnancy appointments follow the Antenatal Schedule of Care offering 4 weekly appointments to review maternal and fetal wellbeing until 28 weeks gestation. In the third trimester appointments are fortnightly and in the last month of pregnancy, appointments are offered weekly.

Planning for Birth Appointment

  • The labour and birth planning session covers crucial aspects of childbirth preparation. It begins with an introduction to the session's objectives and a discussion on the latent and active stages of labour, the mechanism of normal labour, and coping strategies for any delay in progress during labour. Participants explore birthing options, pain management techniques, and explore ideas to create a personalised birth plans. Labour and delivery topics include understanding labour stages, recognising signs of progress, and the role of partners in providing support and reassurance. Medical interventions, including an Induction of Labour or Caesarean Section plan/recommendation will be reviewed.


  • Postpartum care is addressed, encompassing physical changes, emotional well-being, breastfeeding basics, and recovery. A Q&A session fosters discussion and clarifies concerns, followed by resource sharing for ongoing support. The session concludes with a recap, empowering participants with knowledge to embrace the next phase in their transition to parenting a new baby.


Postnatal Appointments

  • Postnatal care offers an initial debrief around the birthing experience. A physical check of mum and a baby weight and check to review any concerns post birth.

  • Infant feeding support and settling strategies are a focus to ensure that a positive, healthy bond is forming within the new family unit.

  • Emotional wellbeing is reviewed, with strategies to help manage exhaustion, sleep and nutritional/hydration needs. 


TeleHealth/Text Support (Tier 1)

  • General text/call support for info, feedback, general results, and referrals as required.
